General Gynaecology

If you have any concerns with your reproductive system, whether it’s problems with your menstrual cycle, fertility or menopause, Dr Wafa Samen can help with more than 30 years’ experience as gynaecologist in both private and public practice.

She has particular expertise in treating and removing endometriosis, ovarian cysts and pelvic adhesions.

  • Heavy bleeding or Menorrogia
  • Pelvic pain
  • Endometriosis
  • Colposcopy following an abnormal CST
  • Biopsy for cysts
  • Menopause treatment including HRT

Dr Samen carries out a vaginal and abdominal ultrasound using the very latest equipment to make an initial diagnosis, and can then determine the appropriate treatment plan – which may include medication or surgery to resolve the problem.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopic surgery is a common diagnostic test for infertility, ovarian cysts or pelvic pain. Dr Samen performs minimally invasive laparoscopy under general anaesthetic as a day procedure. It can not only diagnose the cause of your symptoms, and also resolve it at the same time, especially if you have concerns with endometriosis or infertility.

During the procedure, Dr Samen will pass a tiny telescope (or laparoscope) through an incision in the umbilicus to view your uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and pelvic cavity.

Where does Dr Samen conduct gynaecological surgery?

Dr Samen performs all gynaecological surgery at Level 5, Sussex Centre, 401 Sussex Street, Haymarket, NSW, City West Specialist Day Hospital and Hurstville Private Hospital and including more complex surgeries such as hysterectomy or myomectomy, which require a longer stay.
